John Fan Zhang

John is a research fellow at the Auckland Centre for Financial Research and AUT. His research interest lies in analyzing the effect social psychology (culture) on financial decisions. He particularly focuses on cultural diversity within multinational firms. Prior to academic research, John has worked eight years in the investment industry. His role covers three main areas: security analysis, private equity (PE) investment analysis and corporate strategic analysis. As a security analyst, John provides clients with advices on stock markets and company valuations. As a PE investment analyst, John assists chief investment officers in seeking and evaluating potential investment targets. As a corporate strategic analyst, John is responsible for designing the structure for subsidiaries and the process of overseas listing. John is a CFA charter-holder and member of CFA society New Zealand. John is also a member of the American Finance Association (AFA) and the Accounting and Finance Association of Australia and New Zealand (AFAANZ). John is a CFA research challenge global grader since 2013 and a CFA exam global reviewer in 2016.
